With a population of more than one and a half million people, Córdoba is the second largest city in Argentina. It is the capital of the homonymous province which lies in the northwest of the country. Through the city runs a river called the Río Suquía and the overall climate is neither really hot nor really cold with an average temperature of 17°C. In the center of the city many buildings with colonial architecture can be found such as the cathedral of Córdoba. In normal years the city attracts several hundreds of thousands of tourists, many arriving through the international Airport Pajas Blancas.
Catedral de Córdoba
The Cathedral of Córdoba stands in the center of the city. Its construction began in 1582, however, due to a collapse in 1677 it was almost completely destroyed. Ricardo Merguete, a Jesuit architect, designed the new structural plans and it was inaugurated again in 1709.
